Main Idea

Jesus’ last words to His followers were not a suggestion, they were a mission. The Great Commission isn’t just for pastors or missionaries; it’s for every believer. We are called to go, to baptize, and to teach; not out of obligation, but out of love. So why do so many Christians hesitate? Maybe it’s fear, busyness, or feeling unqualified. But what if God wants to use your ordinary life to make an eternal difference?

Scriptures

Matthew 28: 18-19

18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

John 20:21

21 Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”

Luke 24:48-49

48 You are witnesses of these things. 49 And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”

Mark 16:15-16

15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 1

Questions for Discussion

  1. What stood out to you most about how each Gospel presents the Great Commission differently making disciples (Matthew), preaching (Mark), being witnesses (Luke), and being sent (John)?
  2. Jeffy said, “You can teach what you know, but you multiply who you are.” What does that mean for your own walk with God and the people you influence?
  3. The story of Nazari showed how one simple conversation can change generations. Who in your life might God be calling you to have a conversation with this week?
  4. Luke 24 calls us to be “witnesses.” What does being a witness of Jesus look like in your everyday life at home, work, or school?
  5. Jesus said, “As the Father sent me, I am sending you.” What do you think it means to live sent? What would change if you truly believed you are sent?

Moving Forward

The Great Commission is not about pressure, but participation. As you go through your week, whether at home, at work, or in the community look for opportunities to show God’s love and truth. You don’t have to go far to go and make disciples. Start where you are.
