Series: Tell Somebody
I’m Sending You
Dear Lord Jesus, I admit that I’ve fallen short. I’ve sinned and need your forgiveness. I believe that You lived, died, and rose again so that I could be connected to God. I confess you as my Lord and personal Savior. I give you my past, present, and future. Take my life and use it. I give it to You. Thank You for saving me. Amen.Tell Us Your Story

Main Idea
What if God’s vision for your life was bigger than you ever imagined not just for your benefit, but for the transformation of those around you? What if your ordinary, everyday spaces like your home, your job, your neighborhood; were mission fields, and you were already sent?
In John 20, the resurrected Jesus appears to fearful disciples and says, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” This isn’t just a moment for them…this is a commissioning for us all. God wants to use your life; your gifts, wounds, and spheres of influence, to bring renewal, hope, and love to the world around you. And you don’t go alone….you go with the Spirit.
Scripture
John 20:19-22
19 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 20 After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.
21 Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” 22 And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.”
1 Corinthians 3:16
Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?
Luke 4: 43
But he said, “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.”
John 8:18
I am one who testifies for myself; my other witness is the Father, who sent me.”
John 5:19
Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.
Discussion Questions
- Icebreaker: What’s something amazing (a movie, restaurant, place, or product) you’ve experienced recently…and who did you tell about it?
- When you hear words like “evangelism” or “witnessing,” what thoughts or emotions come to mind? Have you had any positive or negative experiences with sharing your faith?
- Read John 20:19–21. What stands out to you about Jesus’ posture toward the fearful, hiding disciples? What does this teach us about how God sends people?
- What might it look like for you to live on mission in your everyday life, with your family, neighbors, or co-workers? Where is God already at work around you?
Moving Forward
Jesus doesn’t wait for us to be perfect…He breathes His Spirit into imperfect people and sends us anyway. As you go through this week, begin your days by asking:
“God, where are You already at work today—and how can I join You?”
You are sent. You are filled. You are not alone.
