Series: This Is How Faith Works
Faith that Stands
Dear Lord Jesus, I admit that I’ve fallen short. I’ve sinned and need your forgiveness. I believe that You lived, died, and rose again so that I could be connected to God. I confess you as my Lord and personal Savior. I give you my past, present, and future. Take my life and use it. I give it to You. Thank You for saving me. Amen.Tell Us Your Story

The Main Idea
What if the strength of your faith wasn’t shown by what you know, but by what you do with what you know? Many people measure spiritual growth by Bible knowledge or church involvement but Jesus measures it by obedience. In a world where storms are inevitable, only a faith that is practiced will stand strong. The real question is: Are you building your life on the rock or on the sand?
Scriptures
Romans 12:2
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Matthew 7: 24-29
24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
28 When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, 29 because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.
Questions for Discussion
- What’s one area of your life where you’ve seen personal growth: physically, emotionally, or spiritually, over the past year?
- Can you recall a time when you confused being around spiritual things (church, worship, small group) with actually growing in your faith? What made you realize the difference?
- Read Romans 12:2. What does “renewing your mind” look like in real life? What patterns of the world are hardest for you to resist?
- Read Matthew 7:24–27. What do you think it means to build your life on the rock? What’s one area where God is prompting you to not just hear, but do?
- What’s a practical, obedient step of faith you can take this week? How can this group support you in that step?
Spiritual maturity isn’t just about learning it’s about practicing. Jesus says wisdom is found in doing what He says. Faith that lasts is faith that obeys. This week, ask yourself: “Where is God asking me to act?” Then, take the first step, even if it’s uncomfortable.
