Series: This Is How Faith Works
Faith Grows When You Go
Dear Lord Jesus, I admit that I’ve fallen short. I’ve sinned and need your forgiveness. I believe that You lived, died, and rose again so that I could be connected to God. I confess you as my Lord and personal Savior. I give you my past, present, and future. Take my life and use it. I give it to You. Thank You for saving me. Amen.Tell Us Your Story

The Main Idea
Have you ever felt that you weren’t ready for something God was calling you to do? Maybe you felt under-qualified, too new to faith, or simply scared to fail. The truth is: none of us are ever truly “ready.” Jesus isn’t waiting for perfection; He’s asking for participation.
Scriptures
Matthew 14: 13-21
13 When Jesus heard what had happened, he withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. Hearing of this, the crowds followed him on foot from the towns. 14 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick.
15 As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food.”
16 Jesus replied, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”
17 “We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered.
18 “Bring them here to me,” he said. 19 And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. 20 They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. 21 The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children.
Questions for Discussion
- What’s something you tried this year that scared you at first? (Icebreaker)
- Why do you think so many people feel they need to be “ready” or “qualified” before serving or following Jesus in new ways?
- Read Matthew 14:13–21. What do you think Jesus was trying to teach the disciples by asking them to feed the crowd?
- In what area of your life do you feel Jesus is saying, “Bring me what you’ve got”? What’s stopping you from stepping out in faith?
- How can this group encourage and support each other in trusting God more and acting on faith?
Jesus didn’t call you to be perfect, He called you to follow. He’s not looking for spiritual experts; He’s looking for willing hearts. Whatever you have, however small it feels…bring it to Jesus. You might just see a miracle unfold, not just in you, but through you.
