Follow Jesus Request Prayer Make an Impact

Main Idea

When life gets stressful, prayer is often the first thing we cut. It feels inefficient. Unnatural. Slow. Scripture reminds us that prayer isn’t about performance it’s about drawing near. This week, we’ll explore how to rebuild our belief in prayer by remembering that God is able, God is willing, and we are always invited to come close.

Scripture

Hebrews 4: 14-16

14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven,[a] Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. 16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Discussion Questions

  • What’s one goal or resolution you made this year? How are you doing with it so far?
  • When life gets overwhelming, why do you think prayer is often the first thing we cut? Have you ever felt like “you’re doing everything except praying”?
  • Read Hebrews 4:14–16. What do these verses tell us about God’s ability and willingness to help us? How does that shape the way we approach prayer?
  • What’s one area of your life where you’ve been trying to manage things alone instead of bringing it to God in prayer? How can this group support you in “drawing near with confidence”?

Moving Forward

Don’t just try harder to “pray more.” Instead, make space to draw near. Approach God with confidence knowing He is both willing and able to meet you with grace. Choose one area of your life this week and bring it to God again and again. And if you feel too tired to keep lifting it up find someone who can help hold your arms up in prayer.
