Main Idea

Think about your family tree. You probably know your parents and grandparents, maybe your great-grandparents. But go back a few more generations and you’ll hit a name you’ve never heard, with one line next to it: born here, died there, farmer. A whole life, squeezed into one sentence.

Someday someone will do that with your life. So here’s the question: if your life got summed up in one line, what would it say? And what would you want it to say?

Scripture

Genesis 5:21-24
Enoch lived sixty-five years, then became the father of Methuselah. After Methuselah’s birth, Enoch walked with God three hundred years, and became the father of more sons and daughters. All the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty-five years. Enoch walked with God, and he was not found, for God took him.

Genesis 3:8
They heard the LORD God’s voice walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.

Hebrews 11:5-6
By faith, Enoch was taken away, so that he wouldn’t see death, and he was not found, because God translated him. For he has had testimony given to him that before his translation he had been well pleasing to God. Without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him.

Luke 24:13-16
Behold, two of them were going that very day to a village named Emmaus, which was sixty stadia from Jerusalem. They talked with each other about all of these things which had happened. While they talked and questioned together, Jesus himself came near, and went with them. But their eyes were kept from recognizing him.
