About the Series
Considering whether a good and powerful God exists while we suffer and see evil in this world is a big deal. The Bible doesn't give a simple answer to this. But it does talk a lot about how God helps us when life gets tough. It even says that God knows what suffering feels like because He went through it too. Everyone faces hard times. But according to Peter (one of Jesus first disciples), God gives us what we need to get through tough times and live a Resurrected life. It's like going through a fire/storm/troubles makes us stronger. So, even when life gets really hard, we can come out of it stronger and full of hope, living a better life.Lesson Plan

Main Point
Forget the perfect church checklist; real church means loving each other like family, growing together, and finding meaning beyond ourselves.
1 Peter 1:22-25
22 Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart. 23 For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. 24 For, “All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, 25 but the word of the Lord endures forever.” And this is the word that was preached to you.
1 Peter 2:1-3
1 Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. 2 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation 3 now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.
John 13:35
35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
1 Corinthians 3: 1-3
1 Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly—mere infants in Christ. 2 I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. 3 You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans?
Discussion Questions
- Read 1 Peter 1:23-25: 2:1-3: What does this passage say about God and what does it say about humanity?
- Reflect on a time when you’ve approached something with a “consumer mentality.” How did this perspective influence your expectations and experiences? How might this mindset impact your view of church?
- Consider the concept of sacrificial love within a community. What are some practical ways we can prioritize loving others over our own preferences and needs? Share examples from your own life or experiences.
- Discuss the idea of “church as family.” How does this perspective challenge the traditional understanding of church as a place or institution? How might viewing fellow believers as family members shape our interactions and relationships within the church?
- Reflect on the notion of spiritual growth and maturity. What does it mean to “grow up” in your faith, moving from spiritual infancy to maturity? What practical steps can we take to nourish our spiritual growth and build our lives on the foundation of Christ?
Verse to Memorize:
For, “All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord endures forever.” 1 Peter 1:24-25
Idea Principal
Verse to Memorize:
